Provides: assessment of skills and work history, job preparation classes, work experience and on-the-job training, help with job search and placement, referral for vocational/technical training: programs for youth. Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP).

Remarks: Program participants must be Native Americans and residents of Hennepin County; all services are free.

Provides: Training for clerical, data entry, bookkeeping, and work processing jobs; 6-11 month vocational programs with externships in management, customer service.

Remarks: Program is open to everyone; financial aid is available, as is on-site daycare for students’ children.

Provides: job preparation and readiness, job placement; support services (i.e. transitional housing from single adults with no children, assistance with resume writing, transportation) and retention services.

Provides: Job evaluation and job placement for individuals with mental illnesses.

Remarks: services for residents of Hennepin Country; requires referral from Rehabilitation Services.


Hennepin County Training & Employment Assistance

Services: employment and training opportunities, job skills assessment, job preparedness classes, and counseling; child care assistance; transportation assistance; tools, equipment and uniforms; ESL classes; voice mailboxes; adult basic education.

Remarks: this office coordinates Hennepin Ready Temps, and food Stamp Employment & Training, Most of its services are for people who are economic assistance with housing, although their job resource room and use of phones for job search calls are available to anyone who needs them.


HHH Job Corps Center

Provides: Vocational training for persons ages 16-24 who are generally low or moderate income. Training is in areas of: culinary arts, health occupations, transportation industry, painting and wallpapering, facility maintenance. Building and apartment maintenance, and office occupations. GED and basic skills classes, job placement assistance, a residential living program and on-site medical services available.

Provides: Training in culinary arts including basic skills, baking, and other on-the-job tasks, plus job readiness, kitchen safety and personal finance classes.

Requirements: Must be 18 years old or older; have no felonies or violence or theft in past 10 years; and must be able to pass a drug test.

Twin Cities Community Voice Mail

Provides: Through a network of community agencies, TCCVM provides voice mailboxes for phone messages in low-income persons looking for jobs or housing, to victims of domestic abuse looking for safety in communication, and to people who need to maintain charge for this service. Call for a referral to a participating agency.
